Get ready for four days of fall fun in the River District. Thursday warms up the weekend with a downtown Sip N Shop featuring Main Street shopping, Middle Border Forward projects and a jazzy evening of blues with the Tanya Ross Project. On Friday, regional performers take to the streets at 5 pm, and runners take to the trails at 7 pm for the Glow Run. Music & Art performances are up and down Main and Union Streets including a Block Party and Beer Garden at 5:30 pm.
The Danville Half Marathon starts Saturday festivities at 8 am at JTI Fountain. Family-friendly activities run from 10 am to 4 pm on Bridge Street with Showcase Alley including the River District Art Show, River District Car & Bike Show, Education Stations, International Showcase and several food trucks. The Kids Triathlon starts at 10 am at the YMCA. Saturday night, R&B group, 112 (One Twelve), takes the Coors Light stage at the Carrington Pavilion. The full concert features Master of Ceremony, Busta Brown with DJ Finesse, Smoke N Guns topped off with 112. Gates open at 5:30 pm. Food, beer and wine available on site.
Rounding out the weekend, Sunday’s River District Gospel Exposure features many of Danville’s talented musical quartets and a Community Unity Choir with voices from various churches, plus a fashion show featuring local clothing shops. The location is First Baptist Church on 871 Main Street from 3-6 pm.
River District Festival 2017 runs from Thursday, October 19 – Sunday, October 22 and is made possible with support from the Danville Regional Foundation, J.T. Minnie Maude Charitable Trust, Lawrence Distributing and Spectrum Medical Group.
